11/29/2023 0 Comments The body keeps the scoreOur operating system as human beings has a tendency to create that childlike response of there being something wrong with us which unless we see it, challenge the reality and create a different future gets played out over and over in our experience of life. Regardless of what has happened in the past, I never treat that person as broken and needing fixing or having something wrong with them. I often say to a client there is nothing that you could tell me or share with me which would not have me stand for you. When we went back into the event and shifted the occurring reality it created the opportunity for the time loop to stop and for them to live in the world called 'NOW'. All of it was coming from a paradigm where they were living from the common view that there was something wrong with them. It allowed me to work with a client recently who was living from PTSD in their words and stuck in a 10 year time loop which all the therapy, doctors, escapes to India had not resolved. It allowed me to have fearless conversations where, at the time, strangers would open up around sexual trauma and I would create that container of safety for nothing to be wrong regardless of what they said, regardless of their interpretation of what this happening meant about them. The more I trained the more I could see how I could support others dealing with their experience of trauma. And it is a subjective experience because what an event means for me can be entirely different for another. Each time I got moved by what shifted for the person. And in my own life it disappeared years of experience of what for me was trauma, and I say for me because trauma is a subjective experience. I have seen this occur on countless occasions, and the first time I saw it was like magic. There are a multitudes of ways we can create the environment. So to disappear the trauma we in turn have to shift the reality that we have come to create around the meaning we attach to what happened.Īnd to support this its important to stimulate an environment of safety for the brain to be free to re-circuit in its response. To really get that the experience is no longer happening even if the body is automatically bringing forth the same kind of fight or flight response in the autonomic nervous system that has someone shut down, be overwhelmed, panic, reject intimacy. Trauma is not about the event that happened but the response we have to it.
